Talks · October 2026

GSO 2026

Two talks at the 12th International Conference on Guided Self-Organization, a satellite of the Conference on Complex Systems (CCS 2026), Binghamton University, October 14–15, 2026.

Both come from Quine, a research project in which LLM agents maintain the repository they work in. I am an independent researcher, open to research collaborations and positions.

Talk 1

Computational Neoplasms

How ordinary coordination grew a structure nobody designed

Hao Ke

In a repository maintained by LLM agents, a maintenance checklist drew idle agents in, refused deletion, and was put back within a minute of being removed. The talk asks what it was — a pattern held between the files that reference it and the agents that read them — how it formed from a sequence of sensible instructions, and what it suggests for guiding systems whose parts read.

Talk 2

When Environments Act

Structural elicitation as implicit guidance in missionless agents

Hao Ke

A frozen LLM agent with no task, placed in a workspace of files, still changes it, and the organization of the workspace selects which change it makes. The talk presents structural elicitation as implicit guidance: guidance that lives in how an environment is organized.
